ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the different factors considered by U.S. supermarkets when making store design decisions. It describes how store design decisions are becoming as integral to a retailer's strategy and market positioning as any other merchandising and marketing function geared toward perfecting the consumer shopping experience. In response to consumer concerns, most remodels will incorporate some sort of environmentally friendly or energy-efficient equipment.
