ABSTRACT
The article offers information on chlorine. Chlorine's main end-use is in polyvinyl chloride. Other major uses are isocyanates and oxygenates, inorganics, chloromethanes/solvents and epichorohydrin. Chlorine is a light greenish-yellow gas with an irritating odour. It is toxic by inhalation, ingestion and skin contact. Future growth in western Europe is put at around 1%/year, with east European growth rated stronger at 3-4%/year.
