The article presents some news related to the chemical industry featured in the June issues of "ECN" and "ACN." On June 22, 1987, production at Tarragona, Spain has been brought to a virtual standstill following an explosion and fire on June 12 which destroyed feedstock pipelines supplying Dow and EMP ethylene crackers. On June 23, 1997, it was reported that Bayer has established a joint venture with Jinling Petrochemical Corp. to produce and market polyether formulations in Nanjing, China.
