ABSTRACT
This article reports on the Medicare fraud case which convicts the owner of a Miami healthcare company. The federal jury found Gisela Valladares, owner of PRN Home Health Care Inc., guilty from conspiracy to defraud the government to receiving kickbacks. Two Miami pharmacy owners testified in the investigation that they billed Medicare for more than $20 million based on the referral of false prescriptions for compounded medications from Valladares and others. Valladares is scheduled to be sentenced on September 20, 2007 and faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
