This article reports on the increase in the number of Hispanic web sites in 1999. ElSitio.com and Consejero.com expanded their offerings to include the U.S. Hispanic market along with the Latin American region. Consejero.com of Intelligent Life Corp. just launched the first leg of a campaign via del Rivero Mesianu Advertising in Coral Gables, Florida. In October 1999, Espanol.com broke a $10 million multimedia campaign in Puerto Rico, Mexico and the U.S. Cultural Internet is emerging much like cable did in the 1970s and 1980s, says Tony Dieste, president-CEO of Dieste & Partners in Dallas, Texas.
