ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a new optical-coherence-tomography (OCT) system developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge. The MIT-OCT system is capable of taking high-resolution three-dimensional images of the retina that experts say would greatly improve the diagnosis of critical eye diseases. A prototype of the OCT system is already in use at the New England Eye Center in Boston and more than 100 patients have been tested using the imaging system.
