ABSTRACT
The article reports on the direct pumping of an optical-parametric-amplifier with a femtosecond oscillator which provides relatively high-energy pulses in the near-infrared at a repetition rate of 1 megahertz. The work is part of a European Union-funded collaboration that started as an effort toward micromachining of optical guides. A standard saturable absorber mirror and chirped mirrors was used by the oscillator to provide passive modelocking.
