ABSTRACT
The article reports that researchers at the Institute of Photovoltaics at the Juelich Research Center have been able to grow low-temperature microcrystalline silicon-carbide layers on a low-cost glass substrate in Juelich, Germany. It was able to create an n-side illuminated n-i-p solar cells. The improved performance of the n-i-p solar cells was attributed to higher transparency of the n-type and high hole-drift mobility in the intrinsic absorbing layers.
