CBS, NBC share first Super Bowl

Pete Rozelle, National Football League commissioner, announced that TV coverage of the first pro football Super Bowl would be given to both TV stations. The announcement climaxed six months of negotiations between the football promoters and the networks. CBS and NBC each paid $1 million to share coverage. CBS got exclusive coverage of the 1967 and 1969 playoffs, while NBC got the exclusive rights to the 1968 playoffs
