This article reports on the performance of four motion pictures to be released for the 1999 Christmas season starring Jim Carrey for the film Man on the Moon, Al Pacino for The Insider, Matt Damon for The Talented Mr. Ripley and Denzel Washington for The Hurricane. According to the Hollywood Stock Exchange barometer, a big favorite is Jim Carrey in the Andy Kaufman biography. The movie's stock price has responded in relation to Jim Carrey's first Oscar nomination. It was said that Al Pacino did not have much luck with The Insider, though Buena Vista Marketing kept pounding its media money long after the movie continued to be a disappointment. The Talented Mr. Ripley, starring Matt Damon, has seen seesawing stock prices. The Hurricane may be another movie lost among the plethora of serious adult movies.
