ABSTRACT
The article focuses on radio advertising and sales revenues in the U.S. Radio networks are closing a red-hot upfront with at least 40% of advertising inventory locked up through the end of 2000--despite 25% plus increases in prices. Radio advertising revenues are expected to reach $17.7 billion last year. And the total could jump at least 12% in 2000. Network radio, which represents the smallest price of the radio advertising pie, could see even higher growth, according to CEO Gary Fries of the Radio Advertising Bureau.
