The author explains the complexity of a situation wherein a hotel agrees to pay the commission of all room revenue to a third-party meeting planner within 30 days of settlement of the group master bill. She states that such contract clause can get complicated if the group discontinues its relationship with the meeting planner prior to the meeting dates. She stresses that group and independent planners should be aware of at what point the independent planner's commission is earned.
