ABSTRACT
The article discusses the preservation of English Heritage guidebooks in an effort to make them attractive and accessible. It has been observed that the books promote public enjoyment and advance the public's knowledge of ancient monuments and historic buildings. The existing books focus on the site's architectural description, instead of the social, economic and cultural context. Research also reveals that visitors use the books as souvenirs and reading materials.
