The article reports that Leeds Metropolitan University in Leeds, England has deployed an IP telephony system covering 3,800 phone extensions to meet its expanding communication needs. The university replaced an analogue Private Branch Exchange with a network of Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platforms and IP handsets. The university said the migration took place with minimal disruption and the systems would give staff greater flexibility to work in locations across the campus. According to Norman Dowd, project leader at Leeds, taking charge of a project of this scale is not a small feat.
