ABSTRACT
The author considers the question of whether open borders produce greater happiness. He presents evidence that the labor migration to the U.S. has contributed to wage inequality and increased the number of poor in the country. He mentions a research by Carol Graham which implies that further growth for advanced countries may not produce a lot of additional happiness to the people. He concludes that recent U.S. growth is not sustainable and did not improve the chances for upward mobility.
