ABSTRACT
Abstract  The aggregate stability of aqueous sols prepared from the OX-50 Aerosil is investigated at pH 35-10 in the KCl and BaCl2 concentration range 10−4−10−1 M. It is demonstrated that the results obtained can be explained in the framework of the classical Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory of the stability of lyophobic colloids. It is revealed that, for the OX-50 nanoparticles, there is a region of parameters of the dispersion medium for which long-range interactions between particles due to the predominance of the molecular (dispersion) attractive forces over the ionic electrostatic forces can lead to coagulation of the sol.
