ABSTRACT
The article discusses the next generation of financial planners, who are currently college students. The Ameriprise Financial Planning Invitational featured a competition for teams of students pursuing degrees in financial planning. The teams competed against one another to create the best financial plan for a fictitious family. Virginia Tech's team, made up of Patrick McGonigle, Christina Smith, and Michael Kane, earned the top prize at the competition, which awarded their school with a scholarship of $10,000.
