Phone numbers: meter reads by text make for accurate bills

The article reports on a survey by LogicaCMG which found that 82 percent of people want a smart meter, but at £180 each, costs are proving prohibitive for an immediate nationwide rollout. Some companies are offering customers the option of sending meter reads by text. Other utilities considering offering meter reads via mobile should note that mobile marketing and customer relationship management services must be permission based, respect privacy and adhere to legislation.
