Database Trends & Applications;Jun2007, Vol. 21 Issue 6, p16
The article presents an analysis on data recovery in information technology. Details related to data management shows data professionals and IT industries ranked improving data recovery and availability as their top concern in 2007. Security and storage came in second and third in place. The traditional focus on "always being ready" is evolving to "always being on." "Always being on" approach helps ensure access to data, when and where they need it. Applications would continue during and after an event of disaster thus protecting revenue streams. Traditional practice of relying on tapes for backup has evolved to supplementing tapes with e-vaulting or storage and server replication.
