ABSTRACT
The article discusses the author's canoeing experience with his friend Larry on the Colorado River. During the canoe trip, Randy's Chesapeake Bay retriever Amber sat near him, ears as alert as antennae. The day was overcast and cold, barely above freezing. Near the shallows, ice struggled to form. The author also shared the lesson that he learned while passing the Fruita Bridge of the river.
