ABSTRACT
The article presents the views of the U.S. Representatives John Shimkus and Doris Matsui concerning Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA). They argue that DERA is a cost-effective strategy to improve the country's air quality, and it represents sound environmental and budgetary policy. However, they believe that the Congress needs to deliver on its pledge to support diesel retrofit technologies for the sake of the country, and the well being of the children.
