ABSTRACT
The article reports on the statement of Senator Orrin Hatch that monopoly continues for Traffic.com despite congressional language in Pennsylvania. In a letter, the senator asked Department of Transportation Secretary Mary Peters why the monopoly for Traffic.com has largely continued even though Hatch and others passed a provision designed to open the market on traffic data to other companies. Traffic.com collects traffic data from its roadside sensors and provides real-time traffic information.
