ABSTRACT
The article reports on the development of nonlinear signatures as a versatile solution to the issues of spatial resolution and molecular contrast. The most developed of those signatures create light at a new wavelength, which can be separated from the exciting laser. On the other hand, the most important single-wavelength effects on nonlinear signatures are two-photon absorption (TPA) and self-phase modulation.
