ABSTRACT
The article reports on the use of chain of plasma mirrors to create extreme-ultraviolet pulses that they predict to be on the attosecond timescale by the researchers at CEN Saclay, École Polytechnique and the University of Toronto in France and Canada. Plasma mirror is an effective solution to increase the contrast between the prepulse and the main pulse. The rising edge of the main pulse converts the surface of the mirror into a highly reflective plasma.
