ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the role of Hughes Associates Inc. in helping the U.S. Army eliminate wastes from its camps. Patrick Taylor at the company has developed a "Zero Footprint Camp" strategy that would eliminate waste by using strategies including waste-to-energy technology, sewage treatment facilities and composting. The consultants also are helping the Army identify deployable technologies that would allow a base to reuse its gray water from showers and laundries by using it in latrines.
