ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the petrochemicals industry in Qatar. The author reports that a lack of ethane is restricting the sector's ability to grow and threatens the state's long-term ambitions to become a major petrochemicals producer. Despite being the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer, Doha is having to restrict allocations of ethane, by far the cheapest, and thus the most sought after, petrochemical feedstock supplied to regional base chemicals producers.
