The article reports on the decision of German chemical industry association VCI to revise its forecast for the chemical industry for 2007 after it reported a positive performance during the first quarter. Earlier forecasts pointed to production growth of 2% and a sales upturn of 2.5%. Its latest estimate of a 1.5% increase in selling prices is lower than the 2% predicted last December, partly as a result of a drop in raw material costs since the start of 2007.
