ABSTRACT
The article reports the financial performance of chemical companies in Japan in fiscal year 2006. Asahi Kasei reported an increase in operating profits to yen (Y) 127.8 billion in the year ended March 2007. Toray also posted an increase in operating income to a record Y102.4 billion and sales of Y1,546 billion. Mitsubishi Rayon's operating profit and sales increased in the year ended March 2007, reaching Y59.7 billion and Y417 billion, respectively.
