ABSTRACT
The article focuses on LayoffSpace.com, a social networking Web site launched by Jake Ludwinski and his brother Maciej, for unemployed people. LayoffSpace offers tools to post pictures, publish blogs, form groups and send instant messages to other job hunters. With the modest startup costs typical of Web 2.0 companies, the brothers launched the venture, looking for white-label, social-networking software before settling on Small World Labs. The brothers plan to introduce advertising once the site builds traffic. If the site takes off, the brothers could roll out other Web 2.0 businesses through their Spacemen Labs umbrella company.
