ABSTRACT
The article reports that Japanese polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producer Shin-Etsu Chemical plans to build an integrated vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and chlor-alkali complex in Texas within three years. The complex will be operated by a US subsidiary, Shintech, and will have an 825,000 tonnes/ year VCM plant and an electrolysis plant producing 550,000 tonnes/year of caustic soda and 500,000 tonnes/year of chlorine.
