The article analyzes the impact of the reach legislation that became law on June 1, 2007 on the European chemical industry. Reach was new, a radical approach to chemicals control built, it seemed, more on the precautionary principle rather than sound science. Ultimately, it would replace more than 40 separate pieces of legislation, the author said.
