The article reports that furniture company Williams-Sonoma's sales in the first quarter of fiscal 2007 were 2.7 percent higher than the previous year's comparable period. The company also revealed that net income has dropped more than 21 percent. Williams blamed the earnings decline on increasing costs of goods sold and a sluggish retail environment.
