ABSTRACT

The article reports that Round Rock, Texas-based Dell Inc. has offered its Opti-Plex 745 and 740 desktops with configurations that meet the Energy Star 4.0 requirements on May 30, 2007. The purpose of the initiative was to make its enterprise customers think green when it comes to desktops. The requirements, which comes from the Environmental Protection Agency, calls for 80 % efficient power supplies and lower idle-wattage ratings. In addition to the company's desktop, Dell announced its assurance to ensure that its commercial desktops, laptops and workstations will meet the Energy Star requirements. Other plans of the company to promote energy savings in terms of using power supplies are offered.
