ABSTRACT
The article presents the author's opinions on the question of whether presumed consent is the answer to an organ shortage which exists in Great Britain. Arguments are presented which suggest that with the use of presumed consent, which assumes that deceased people want to donate their organs unless there is evidence to the contrary, physicians can save and transform lives while still respecting the wishes of those who have acknowledged that they want to donate and protecting the right of those who do not.
