ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of Supervalu to sell its 18-store Scott's Food & Pharmacy unit in northeast Indiana to the Kroger Co. for an undisclosed sum. According to Supervalu chairman and chief executive officer Jeff Noddle, the decision to sell the stores came after careful analysis and deliberation, guided by what is best for the company's ongoing success and future growth. The transaction is expected to close in late 2007.
