ABSTRACT
The article reports on the launch of a pork under the Naturally Tender label by pig marketing cooperative Scottish Pig Producers. The marketing initiative targets a 10 pence per pig levy that will bring in £40,000 a year with an £18,000-a-year marketing grant from the Scottish Executive. The move coincides with a marketing study which suggested that Scottish pork and bacon could be lifted out of the commodity market and into a premium niche market.
