ABSTRACT
The article discusses the importance of a strong communications channel between medical researchers and policy-makers at the state level. According to Jack Meyer and Tanya Alteras from Health Management Associates, the improvement of the health system can be significantly accelerated if this is achieved. A four-stage research and policy-making framework is presented by Meyer and Alteras which starts with a good understanding of the scope and extent of the problem.
