Variable-Speed Drives Critical in Preserving RainForest at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

April 2007
Heating/Piping/Air Conditioning Engineering;Apr2007, Vol. 79 Issue 4, p51
The article offers information on equipment used to control temperature and humidity at the RainForest exhibit of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo complex in Ohio. The area has two air-handling units (AHU), one used primarily for cooling, while the other is equipped with a pre-heater and humidifier rack. Both AHU have 10-feet diameter, 1,000 pound heat wheels, which transfer moisture from stale exhaust air to dry outside air once every 2.5 hours.
