ABSTRACT
The article announces the formation of a chemicals group, called Cluster Chemie, as part of a state-wide innovation alliance in Bavaria, Germany. The state's 19th such cluster links the research and development activities of 380 chemical firms, with more than 60,000 employees. According to state economics and technology minister Erwin Huber, the group should help small and medium-sized chemical companies to establish research alliances with universities and other scientific institutions.
