ABSTRACT
The article reports on the re-enactment of a 19th-century game in which original American Indian baseball teams competed against soldiers in Fort Sill, Oklahoma every year. It cites the reasons of tribesmen for participating in the event. It notes that From January through March 1869, soldiers with the 7th Cavalry, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel George A. Custer, played ball with the 19th Kansas Volunteers, American Indian fighters recruited for six months.
