ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the recruitment of second-generation Japanese Americans called Nisei for intelligence-gathering assignments for the U.S. Army during World War II. It notes that Nisei linguists were assigned to the Military Intelligence Service, the forerunner of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command. It mentions the contribution of the Nisei service to the Pacific war. The Military Intelligence Service Language School moved to the Presidio of Monterey, California in 1946.
