ABSTRACT
The article discusses the challenges facing billionaire George Soros' Burma Project. The project aims to fund activities that could foster democracy in Burma. Pressures from Burmese dictators and the Thai government caused prospective benefactors to shy way from the project. Aung-Thwin, head of the project, says that the project has to maintain a low profile in response to government oppression. Activities funded by the project are cited.
