ABSTRACT
The article looks at legal issues facing retailers across the U.S. concerning employee dress codes. The law requires that employers make a reasonable accommodation for an employee's religious beliefs in the workplace. According to the author, generally an employer has a right to limit an employee's display of tattoos in accordance with a nondiscriminatory dress code policy. He adds that as with piercings, employees may claim that their religion forbids such body art to be covered up.
