ABSTRACT
This article deals with the pet food supply issue facing the U.S. supermarket industry. The pet food recalls centering on the presence of contaminated wheat gluten in products continues to broaden, as recalls encompassed new brands and broke for the first time into the dry food side of the sale. The crisis also affected Nestlé Purina PetCare Co., which claimed it was recalling all sizes and varieties of its Alpo Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes.
