ABSTRACT
The article reports on the recommendations of Taiwan's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to simplify environmental impact studies. Council for Economic Planning and Development chairperson Ho Mei-yueh, said a rapid environmental impact assessment procedure needed to be established but it had to adhere to EPA standards. An inter-ministry panel called for the EPA to draw up the proposals in March 2007 because some major petrochemical projects were facing delays.
