ABSTRACT
The article reports on the negative speculations on Asian paraxylene following the Asian contract price (ACP) nominations. Hikes of $100/tonne to $1,200/tonne cost and freight in Asia have been proposed for May 2007 contracts by ExxonMobil, Nippon Oil and Idemitsu Petrochemical. However, consumers criticized the magnitude of the proposed ACP increases, airing fears that this would significantly erode their margins and make their position untenable.
