Strong first quarter boosts PS sellers' hopes

The article highlights the market performance of polystyrene producers for the first quarter (Q1) of 2007. Q1 volumes showed strong growth mainly from extruded polystyrene (XPS), chemical made from general purpose polystyrene and used in the insulation industry. XPS demand is supported by the tightness of expandable polystyrene (EPS). Considered to be undersupply, EPS producers have made plans to increase capacity in the next couple of years, the article reports.
