The article reports on the joint campaign among companies engaged in the telephone industry and the cable industry to fight a cable franchise-reform bill proposed by Governor Deval Patrick in Massachusetts. Cable companies, Verizon Communications, chambers of commerce and RCN have created a coalition to combat Patrick's initiative. It is accounted that the bill targets several business-tax breaks that will be eliminated to resolve the common-wealth's $13 billion budget shortfall.
