The author recounts his first summer job experience helping making deliveries from a bakery. Together with the truck driver John, they drove the city streets and stopped by John's house for breakfast at 7:30. He came to meet the sickly wife of John who finds joy in hearing him hum his favorite hymn. John was the one who encouraged him to hum a tune telling him that singing is a gift from God.
