The article reports that the cities and towns have 90 days to act on cable franchise applications filed by their local phone companies in the U.S. Kevin Martin, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman, said that FCC pressure on cities and towns to act promptly would produce several benefits, including the spurring broadband deployment and lowering of cable bills.
